Prison Ministry

Wants Unused Christmas Cards

Deacon Sara Burch wants to again sincerely thank all of those who leave goodies in the detention ministry cart in Sadler Hall. Please continue to donate Reader’s Digest, Smithsonian, and National Geographic along with the devotional or faith-based books. Many have not been exposed to such subject matter and request another edition each time they see her. Specifically there is a need and request for Christmas Cards to send out to loved ones. If you have any extra, please drop them by the church any day of the week or when you are here on Sunday

Calling St. Luke's to a second Solemn Assembly

“…call a solemn assembly; gather the people. Sanctify the congregation…” ~from Joel 2:12-17

Wednesday, December 10th, 7:00p.m.

Come, let us once again seek the Lord together, humble ourselves, and be blessed. Perhaps the Lord will direct us to cry out for our court case, perhaps for greater fidelity to him no matter what the outcome. Either way, Fr. Rob believes the Lord is once again calling us together in a Solemn Assembly to seek him and his good desires for us.

Come Prepared

Some form of fasting and true repentance should precede your attendance at this event. Pick up a copy of “The Reconciliation of a Penitent” from the information kiosk in Sadler Hall to guide you in your private confession before we come together as a solemn assembly.

Website/Email Change

We have changed our website to better reflect our Anglican identity. Our new website address is www.stlukesanglican.org. In addition ALL staff email address extensions have changed to match. Please update your email address book accordingly. Currently old email addresses will forward to the new address for now, but at some point will be ended.

Alpha Course

A Practical Introduction and
Exploration of the Christian Faith

Tuesday Nights, October 7th through December 16th

Everyone is welcome and people attend for a wide variety of reasons. People come from different backgrounds, holding many different viewpoints-but all come with the same objective: to establish whether Jesus Christ has any real relevance for their lives.

What is Alpha?
Alpha is a ten-week opportunity to explore the validity and relevance of the Christian faith for our lives today. It is a practical introduction to the basics of Christianity with loads of opportunity for debate discussion. The style of Alpha is informal, friendly and non-pressured. Each week people meet together for a meal, a talk on a topics such as “Who is Jesus?”, “Why Did Jesus Die?”, “How Can I be Sure of my Faith?”, and “Does God still heal today?” followed by small group interaction. There is a day or weekend retreat midway through the course, which focuses on the person and work of the Holy Spirit.

What will it Cost?
There is no charge for the Alpha course, although a small contribution might be requested for the meal each evening and for the food and accommodation during the Alpha weekend away.

When and where?
The evening Alpha course will be held on Tuesday evenings beginning October 7th from 6:45 to 9:45 p.m. at the home of Alpha Directors Don and Stephanie Gunn.

Join us for Alpha!

Lectio Divina

Come join us for the ancient practice of LECTIO DIVINA the first Thursday of each month in the Sanctuary. (Side Chapel - enter from inside patio door.) Lectio will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. You are encouraged to arrive at 6:45 for a time of silent preparation.

Lectio Divina is the spiritual discipline of “praying the scriptures” as a means of union with God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It is our intention to create a space for God, trusting God to meet our need for Him in the context of His Living Word and Christian community. We trust God to do the redemptive, healing and transformational work in our lives that leads towards His fullness as described in Ephesians 4:12-13. We seek to practice the inner disciplines of listening, silence, attentiveness to the movement of the Spirit in our lives, dialogue with God, and resting in God, trusting that the inner work will flow outward into our daily lives, our communities and the world.
