Court Update: 12/1/08

As you know, we filed our opening brief in our appeal this past May. The Episcopal Church (TEC) and the Los Angeles Diocese filed their opening briefs at the beginning of October. For our response to the L.A. Diocese’s and TEC’s opening briefs our attorneys have requested an extension to December 4. After our response is filed the timeline would be 30 days for amicus briefs (friends of the court briefs) to be filed, then it would be in the hands of the Appellate judges in the beginning of January. This is the same time that there should be a decision in the California Supreme Court St. James case- their decision should be made by Jan. 8. Even when there is a ruling with the St. James case, it is not an automatic decision for our case. We still need to proceed through the process of our appeal.

Please continue to pray for your Vestry, Sr. Warden, and Rector. Also, keep in prayer the California Supreme Court Justices, our Appellate Court Justices (4th District, Div. 1), and especially our attorneys, Eric Sohlgren and Daniel Lula.

Thank you for keeping all of this in your prayers.

Blessings,
Fr. Rob Holman, Rector
Debbie Kollgaard, Sr. Warden
